The Sustainable BloB working group was established in December 2018 as a merger of the sustainability groups of the Bloemenbuurt and Bomenbuurt neighborhoods.

Duurzame BloB is a multidisciplinary working group dedicated to green spaces, energy, the circular economy, and climate adaptation. Our goal is a green and climate-resilient neighborhood. To achieve this, we liaise with the municipality, gather and share knowledge about sustainability, participate in sustainable initiatives and climate roundtables, and organize energy coaching. We also support the expansion, design, and maintenance of green spaces.

Sustainability is an overarching concept. It encompasses the future-oriented and cohesive development of a neighborhood, where various themes can be addressed separately but never entirely independently. Examples of themes include energy, green spaces, mobility, parking, social cohesion, sewer replacements, street redesign, and nuisance measures such as traffic and noise.

The members of the Green working group provide tips on greening the neighborhood and organize green activities, such as the Spring Market. The energy coaches are available for discussions about making homes in the neighborhood more sustainable. The working group also manages the worm hotel and conducts thermal scans. Several members of Duurzame BloB participate in Operation Bomenbuurt (Bloom Neighborhood Operation).
